to be questioned by the high priest.
'We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name.' he said.
'Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching
and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood.'
Peter and the other apostles replied:
'We must obey God rather than Men!' "

Watch out for false prophets.
They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."

(Jesus warning the crowds about the hypocrites [Pharisees],
but could easily be applied to all power-hungry leaders.)

"But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders,

Everything they do is done for men to see."
(Matthew 23:2b-5a)

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor,
free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,
so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark,
which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
This calls for wisdom."
(Revelation 13:16-18a)
